It turns out that John Mason was NOT the first potential groom jilted by runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks.

Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter confirmed last night that Wilbanks was engaged once before and pulled out. He gave NO details about whom she was supposed to marry or when.

Porter is deciding whether to bring criminal charges against the 32-year-old bride-to-be, who disappeared for four days last week because she apparently wanted to back out of a lavish wedding planned for Saturday. Hundreds of police officers and volunteers searched for Wilbanks before she turned up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, last Saturday. She initially told police she was kidnapped, and then hours later admitted she left on her own.

Police gave more details yesterday about the flight. Wilbanks apparently took a taxi to Atlanta Tuesday night and then boarded a bus. Her ticket was for Austin, Texas, but she apparently got off in Dallas and then boarded another bus to Las Vegas, and then another to Albuquerque. Police say she told them she knew NO one in any of the cities she visited.

An agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Wilbanks was wearing her engagement ring when he interviewed her yesterday and that she cried and seemed repentant, but did NOT directly apologize.
